Feeling Blue?

If like me you have just realised that the longest day of the year has passed already and that the summer still doesn’t seem to have arrived, here are a few little things to do for you, to cheer your soul and yourself up a little in the face of yet another soggy British summer.

Go Yellow!!!!!!!

Yellow is the colour of energy and intelligence, spend five minutes a day surrounding yourself with yellow, imagine if you will a huge yellow sun beaming down at you from above, golden sunflowers nodding their heads in a Mediterranean breeze. Yellow canaries singing their hearts out. A river of sunlight flowing bubbling gently over crystals of rainbow colours. Anything yellow will do, drag out some yellow underwear! Imagine yourself in a yellow room. And whatever you do draw that wonderful yellow colour deep inside you to your solar plexus and feel it filling you. Revitalising, Energising and filling you with a sense of well being.

Put your best foot first!!!!!!

How often do you really pamper your feet? Honestly now? Most of us ignore our feet as much a possible. They are ugly they smell odd, they can’t possibly spiritual, Can they? Well the answer is yes they can!

Your feet are your connection to the great mother, the earth. It is her who takes away our negativity and soothes and heals us, it is her who gives us our sense of place in the universe. She keeps us grounded so to speak. So if you have uncared for feet, you have an uncared for connection and therefore the connection is not at its most efficient, it is rather like expecting water to boil nicely in a furred up kettle.

Why do you need this connection? Well the theory goes that we are connected to spirit through our crown chakra, (the top of your head) and to the earth by our root chakra, (base of spine). However our feet actually help us make this connection every day. By giving yourself a good old buff and brush up, you clean and maintain the connection, rather like taking a wire brush to an old spark plug. And once the connection is maintained we find the negativity drains away more effectively leaving us feeling more energised.

Try it. Even if you don’t particularly feel any more spiritual afterwards, I guarantee your feet will feel better.

Breath in the new air.

Take a few minutes to think how the future would smell if you had your way. Would you be able to afford that Caribbean Holiday, smelling suntan oil and Malibu, or would you go away to the country-side and breathe in cut grass and Cider? Think about the smells you love and how they effect your mood, then select all the happy sunny ones, the smells that make you feel like a kid again, not the adult sensual smells but the innocent carefree smells that take you back to the best summer ever!

Now and here’s the tricky bit, get those smells and start surrounding yourself with them a little every day, and watch the smile edge back onto your lips!

Be Defiant.

Dig out your favourite summer clothes and defiantly wear them in spite of the driving rain and howling winds! Parade around indoors in your favourite summer gear and put some summery sounds on the radio, sip a cool drink and let your imagination do the rest!

Ring the Changes.

Summer is the season to clear out and tidy up, so get out the recycling bags, get ready for a few trips to the dump, the local charity shops and even a car boot sale or two and finally empty the attic of all the stuff you keep putting up there, saying that one day you'll get rid of it.

Summer is the time to minimise, think just how much bigger everything will look and feel with less clutter in it.

 

And last but not least, when the sun does shine on us, smile, enjoy and give thanks.
